Express the truth to gain the trust

Nurse Corner 2009

At EuroPCR 2009, the Nurse and technician programme aims to bring together professionals from all over the world, to share theirexperience and knowledge on issues that make up our daily practice. Although the work of cathlab personnel requires a high level of technical ability, our main responsibility lies in the care of the patient during the procedure. Our success is measured by our ability to manage all situations through the effective, timely completion of a multitude of tasks without loosing sight of the patients' well being. This focus, on the delivery of a safe, patient-centered approach to care, is the thread that links the presentations in the Nurse and technician programme.

The learning objectives of these sessions are:

  • To update our knowledge through the presentation of the latest techniques and devices used in cardiac catheter laboratories.
  • To improve our daily practice of interventional cardiology and vascular medicine, especially in acute cardiac care settings.

We encourage you to actively participate in the nurse and technician programme at EuroPCR 2009 by discussing the presentations and sharing your experience with the speakers and your colleagues. The Programme Committee Members wish you an informative, educational and enjoyable EuroPCR 2009!

My EuroPCR experience – a testimony
"I attended EuroPCR for the first time in 2008, I felt it was a great forum for international interventional cardiology nurses and technicians to meet, interact, share information and experiences with one another. I was also lucky enough to gain so many new and invaluable multidisciplinary contacts, and we continue to collaborate, sharing professional data and ideas with each other. Therefore, slowly advancing and standardising patient care and staff education within the cathlab across the world.
I found the lectures most educational and pertinent to daily practice, I especially enjoyed ”The Practical Training and Virtual Reality Session”. This session was very interactive for all involved, it was exciting to be stenting an assimilated right coronary artery, it felt so real!"

Brid O’Meara is an interventional nurse based in St. Vincents’ Hospital, Dublin, Ireland.
