Learning Objectives

  • To discuss that patients with a history of myocardial infarction and/or peripheral artery disease are at high short and long-term risk for atherothrombotic events despite standard therapy
  • To educate on the multiple pathways involved in the activation of platelets
  • To appreciate the PAR-1 pathway as a key platelet activation pathway that is critical for thrombosis
