EuroPCR 2015 Highlights: Peripheral Interventions

EuroPCR 2015 Course Director Alberto Cremonesi, Italy, Antoine Sauguet, France, and Thomas Zeller, Germany, are interviewed by Robert Byrne, Germany, about what is new in the field of Peripheral Interventions.

Alberto Cremonesi discusses new stent development data and the novelties in carotid stenting data: for example micromesh technology for stenting, allowing to reduce procedural as well as post-procedural complications. He also comments on whether these devices should be used with or instead of embolic protection devices, and new techniques with access to the carotid.

Thomas Zeller shares what’s new in superficial femoral artery territory, notably about performing stenting in combination with using drug-eluting balloon technology. He also reflects on what is needed to move forward in the use of drug-coated balloon therapy in below-the-knee territory.

Lastly, Antoine Sauguet shares some insights into a new technique for recanalising BTK, performing a re-entry from the subintimal space, and what the next steps should be for this technique in the peripheral area.
