EuroPCR 2016 Great Debate - extending TAVI to low risk patients: Thomas Walther
Thomas Walter, Germany, is a Cardiac Surgeon working at the Krakhoff Hospital in Bad Nauheim. He has performed aortic valve surgery for the last 20 years and TAVI since 2004.
“At present, in low-risk patients, we have perfect outcomes with conventional surgery. Regarding TAVI in this patient group, we still have to consider several aspects, for example, very difficult valve morphology with extensive calcification where I don’t yet believe that TAVI is the best option for longevity. I am really looking forward to this debate.“
