Innovation in Cardiology: Best of PCR Innovators Day 2016
There is a revolution occurring in the way interventional cardiology is practiced today and Nicolo Piazza and Chaim Lotan review PCR Innovators Day 2016 with David Cassak to see just where all this innovation is taking us.
During PCR Innovators Day, cardiologists, industry, venture capitalists and engineers all came together to find answers to the unmet needs and challenges of the interventional community. Advances in mitral repair and replacement, the evolution of aortic valves, or the integration of imaging – “the eyes of the Heart Team” in the words of N. Piazza – all took centre stage at this increasingly popular event. C. Lotan spoke of PCR Innovators Day as “a rare and innovative environment” which was ideal for “fostering” further discussions such as those on the future of interventional heart failure, the digital revolution and “e-health” or “Big Data”, cybersecurity and the generational divide in adapting innovations.
