Quality in the Cathlab: What is needed to establish a quality program (NAP)

Lynne Hinterbuchner, from the Salzburg University Clinic in Austria asks David Sparv, the Chief Nursing Officer for 5 hospitals in Sweden about quality in the Cathlab. Education and training for Cathlab nurses and allied professionals needs to be standardised.  The European core curriculum leading to certification provides this, with the benefits of staff motivation and retention. The measurement of quality, especially from the patient’s perspective, with the completion of quality registries are essential to improving quality and predicting outcomes, and quality indicators need to be transparent to provide feedback.
