Training in cardiology and stroke interventions to improve outcomes
Summary
Cardiologists who are able to perform stroke interventions can make an important contribution to the stroke team that is of benefit to both parties. Sandor Nardai, an interventional cardiologist from Hungary, explains to Petr Widimsky how he was able to develop his role by adding training in stroke thrombectomy to his qualifications. He describes how “neurology and cardiology are two fields that resemble each other and are in many ways complementary” and training in neurology for cardiologists is leading to a “new specialty being born of neurocardiology”.
