EDUCATION RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEETING ORGANISATION

- Dr. Nick West trained in medicine at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge and St. Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London. He trained in cardiology at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford and Green Lane Hospital, Auckland, New Zealand, and undertook research towards his MD thesis at Duke University, NC, USA and in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Oxford.
- He currently works at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, the UK’s largest specialist cardiothoracic centre. He is a member of the British Cardiovascular Society Guidelines & Practice Committee and Deputy Chair of the working group on Acute Cardiac Care.
 

ACTIVE AREAS OF RESEARCH

- Clinical and research interests include intravascular imaging techniques, bioresorbable scaffolds, coronary microvascular function, stent design, acute myocardial infarction and diabetic restenosis. - He is medical advisor to PlaqueTec Ltd and has been involved in the development of the novel Liquid Biopsy System.
- He is a member of the Absorb Global Expert Network and is the highest recruiter for the Absorb UK registry.

- Dr. Nick E J West has a very high interest in clinical research and has actively participated in the development of the Bioresorbable scaffolds course on PCR edu online.
