How PCR trains educators!
Discover ViTAL®: where clinicians learn how to deliver high-quality post-graduate education!
At PCR, clinicians get the opportunity to receive unique support: ViTAL® programme helps them to learn HOW to deliver sessions in a way that gives participants a practical, relevant and immersive educational experience. This unique approach to postgraduate education substantiates the excellence of PCR Courses. It results from Prof. Jean Marco’s interest in advancing knowledge transmission within continuous medical education, and it is rooted at the very core of PCR’s DNA.
The dedicated training of educators, unmatched elsewhere, is what truly differentiates PCR Courses from other meetings. It ensures the sessions are highly engaging, put participants at the centre of their learning experience, and enable them to find shared outcomes to common difficulties. ViTAL® programme also rewards those who follow it with precious educational skills for their other activities, such as when teaching at university or delivering presentations at meetings.
ViTAL®: The Manual
Transformative learning aims to train professionals who are capable of adapting, evolving their practice, and casting a critical eye on their own actions. More than a simple transmission of knowledge, it represents a profound transformation of thinking and values.
ViTAL® (Visionary Transformative Adult Learning) was born from a simple but demanding conviction: experienced professionals continue to learn best through interaction, reflection, shared experience, and active participation.

ViTAL® = Visionary Transformative Adult Learning
- Visionary, because it is about applying educative processes that help create a better future for patients and clinicians
- Transformative, because it is designed to help clinicians transform their understanding and apply this in their daily practice
- Adult, because it recognises that post-graduate clinicians attending educational seminars have a significant contribution to make
- Learning, because the focus is on participative education

PCR ViTAL® portfolio: what, when, why…

What?
ViTAL® is a recognised PCR trademark. The programme identifies educators’ talent, trains them to support their teaching skills (including helping participants structure their reasoning and cultivate critical faculties, through exchange and the sharing of experience), then provides educators feedback to continually refine their teaching skills. This virtuous circle values the involvement of physicians at PCR and nurtures new generations of great educators.
Who for?
ViTAL® is primarely intended to support clinicians who will build and deliver PCR’s educational activities — particularly those aimed at engaging participants in reflection, discussion and the confrontation of practice.

Why ?
While some naturally develop these skills, teaching per say is rarely a component of medical training; ViTAL® therefore offers a structured space for all to strengthen their teaching approach throughout their journey. In the end, the overall aim of ViTAL® is to contribute to the improvement of patient care, by ensuring educational quality of our Courses and initiatives.
When?
ViTAL® training curriculum starts online, with theory, tips modules, briefing and guidelines documents, but the heart of the programme lies in in-person meetings, held regularly throughout the year to prepare the Courses, with our biggest group gathering yearly about 2 months before EuroPCR.

How?
Each ViTAL® in-person training is built using a coherent and logical structure, according to the group’s needs and experience. It carefully combines theory and practice, with interactive activities that implement the participants’ own knowledge and experience. Moreover:

- For facilitated sessions: the teams learn how to move around the room, ask the right questions and capture audience attention, structure, simplify explanations and welcome the audience’s input, etc.
- For LIVE sessions, operators and onstage teams are coached on PCR's procedural framework for LIVE demonstration. This ensures priority for the patient, while maintaining the best dynamic between them for the benefit of the audience.
Methods for training include role-playing, video replay and analysis, presentation practice…
Who by?
As PCR, ViTAL® is a BY and FOR programme. Though we work closely with professional coachs and facilitators to run the trainings, ViTAL® also relies on PCR best educators to share their own teaching experience and tips!
