
Simon H. Stertzer
Simon Stertzer (1937-)
Dr. Simon Stertzer is a cardiologist in Stanford, California and is affiliated with Stanford Hospital and Clinics. He received his medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine. Simon is also known for performing the first angioplasty in the United States in New York on March 1, 1978 (the same day as Dr. Richard Myler), using the brachial approach.
Subsequently he moved to San Francisco in 1983 to work with Richard as the Director of Cardiology at the San Francisco Heart Institute (SFHI) at Seton Medical Center.
The two of them held live case teaching courses to help teach early adopters about PTCA and other PCI procedures. Simon continues to be involved in new medical device start-ups and was a co-founder of AVE back in the 1990s.
