Late-Breaking Trial results
Clinical outcomes with MitraClip (NTR/XTR): core-lab echo results
Results:
- The availability of multiple Clip sizes enables physicians to achieve improved clinical outcomes when compared to previous studies that included 1 Clip size
- Highest reported to date MR reduction at 30 days 87.1% MR ≤1+ in primary MR and 90.1% MR secondary MR
- Significant improvements in quality of life and functional capacity
- Early evidence of reduction in LV annular dimensions and volumes
Clip selection strategy and outcomes with MitraClip (NTR/XTR)
Results:
The availability of multiple Clip sizes enables tailoring the therapy to patients individual MV anatomy:
- For Primary MR, MitraClip XTR achieved more favorable MR reduction in patients with more severe baseline MR, smaller annular dimensions, large prolapse gaps and complex MV anatomy
- For secondary MR, results show no evidence on advantage of Clip selection strategy over outcomes
Safety and effectiveness outcomes with MitraClip XTR system
Results:
- The EXPAND study confirms the safety and performance of the next generation MitraClip XTR system in a contemporary real-world setting
- Adjudicated safety results with the XTR clip were similar to those with NTR clip
Mitral valve leaflet adverse events with MitraClip
Results:
- The first comprehensive review of mitral valve leaflet adverse events (LAE) associated with MitraClip NTR/XTR by a panel of independent multi-disciplinary experts
- Adjudication results indicate low incidence of LAE in a multicenter, international study in real world settings
