Myocardial infarction with cardiogenic shock - Challenging cases

With the collaboration of the Philippine Society of Cardiac Catheterisation and Intervention, Cardiac Society Brunei Darussalam and Interventional Cardiology Society of Malaysia (ISCM)

Summary

Cardiogenic shock is a complication that occurs in 5 to 10 % of MIs, and mortality remains very high. Although early revascularisation can save lives, inotropes still have their limitations, and data on the impact of mechanical circulatory assistance is limited. Watch this session to find out more!

Learning Objectives

  • To understand the role of IABP in managing cardiogenic shock in the setting of myocardial infarction
  • To understand the indications for VA-ECMO in cardiogenic shock
  • To understand the synergy between timely intervention and mechanical circulatory support
