AI fundamentals for busy cardiologists: opportunities, limitations and safe use

A PCR–TCT partners in learning initiative

Summary

Designed for busy cardiologists, this session elucidates the fundamentals of artificial intelligence relevant to cardiology practice. It covers the main AI tool families, including large language models and computer vision, and emphasizes effective and safe prompting techniques for clinical and academic use. Attendees will also learn to recognize common AI failure modes and understand when human verification is essential, ensuring responsible integration of AI into cardiology workflows.

Learning Objectives

  • To understand the main families of AI tools relevant to cardiology, including LLMs and computer vision
  • To learn how to use prompting effectively and safely for day-to-day clinical and academic tasks
  • To recognise common AI failure modes and know when human verification is mandatory

Presentations available when logged in:

  • AI for cardiologists: what LLMs really are (and how they actually work)
  • The art of prompting: how to ask AI the right questions
  • Where AI still fails: what every physician needs to know
