Advancing mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair in complex lesions
Sponsored by Abbott
Summary
Learn how advanced imaging, careful anatomical assessment and tailored procedural strategies are helping expand the possibilities of mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER) in complex lesions.
Focusing on atrial secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) and commissural mitral regurgitation, this EuroPCR 2026 session reviews evidence, showing that M-TEER can be performed safely and effectively in challenging anatomies. Particular emphasis is placed on recognising concomitant tricuspid regurgitation, optimising device selection and refining procedural planning.
Case-based demonstrations also illustrate how commissural lesions, once considered particularly difficult to treat, can become suitable targets when supported by appropriate patient selection and advanced imaging guidance.
Learning Objectives
- To recognise complex anatomical features in patients undergoing mitral edge-to-edge repair and understand how to optimise procedural outcomes in these patients
- To integrate evidence in procedural planning and treatment strategy for patients with atrial secondary mitral regurgitation and non-central lesions
- To apply advanced imaging in mitral edge-to-edge procedures for complex lesions
