Calcium Skills Lab: EuroPCR 2026 highlights
PCR Highlights
Summary
As the management of heavily calcified coronary lesions becomes increasingly complex, the need for practical, hands-on education continues to grow. At EuroPCR 2026, a brand-new initiative aims to address this challenge: the Calcium Skills Lab.
In this discussion, Angela McInerney and Mohamed Abdel-Wahab present this innovative programme designed to bring participants closer to real-world cathlab practice through simulation-based learning and practical training.
Structured across the 4 days of the course, the programme includes 12 dedicated sessions. 8 sessions focus on intracoronary imaging and calcium modification devices, while 4 sessions are dedicated to the management of complications. Participants will learn how to combine imaging with different calcium modification strategies in order to optimise procedural outcomes safely and effectively, while also understanding post-treatment imaging assessment after lesion preparation and stenting.
The complication-focused sessions will feature expert-led, simulation-based demonstrations addressing the management of complications related to calcium modification techniques.
