EuroPCR 2020 Cancellation Information

Tuesday 05 May 2020

Dear Companions, dear Colleagues, dear Friends,

The sanitary and legal environment, and in particular the decisions of the French government barring public gatherings for events exceeding 5,000 participants, have resulted in us cancelling the EuroPCR 2020 Course in Paris as a consequence of the COVID-19 outbreak.

EuroPCR - Cancellation

The weeks leading up to this announcement have allowed us to safeguard the interests of the vast network supporting our annual Course (see Q&A below for details).

Over the last 2-3 months, the PCR mission of sharing knowledge, experience and practice has remained more actively relevant than ever. As always throughout the year, multiple educational resources are freely available for everybody on PCRonline.

We remain committed to working with our Programme Committee to swiftly provide the community with a full update on late-breaking trials and other essential educational content. Details of the dates and platform upon which this independent medical education will be delivered shall be made known in the coming weeks.

Finally, we reiterate our heartfelt solidarity to all those affected by the coronavirus across the globe and extend our warmest wishes for good health to you and your patients, colleagues and loved ones.

Latest update 13 May

  • Why has EuroPCR 2020 been cancelled so late - only on 5 May?

We have received numerous questions and enquiries about the late cancellation of the Course and apologise for the inconvenience and uncertainty this has caused.

The French president officially announced there would be a legal decree prohibiting public events exceeding 5,000 participants in France for the dates covering the Course on 4 May 2020. This legal decree can be found here.

For practical and financial reasons, we have needed to adapt to the legal framework in order to safeguard the interests of the vast network of individuals and organisations (clinicians and allied healthcare professionals, industry partners, hotels, audiovisual providers, caterers and booth builders, amongst others), whose sustainability through the COVID crisis is at stake.

We fully appreciate and thank you for your understanding, patience and continuing support.

  • What about my registration?

For those of you who have already registered for the event, please be ensured we will be communicating with each and every one of you on an individual basis in the coming weeks.

  • What will happen about my travel and hotel accommodation?

We recommend that you check the general terms and conditions issued by your service provider.

  • What about other events scheduled during EuroPCR 2020?

PCR Innovators Day, the EAPCI-PCR Fellows Course, PCR Clinical Research and PCR Peripheral were all due to take place during EuroPCR week. Inevitably all of these events are also cancelled.

  • When will the next EuroPCR take place?

We look forward to welcoming you on 18-21 May 2021 in Paris.

  • When is the next PCR event?

PCR continues to provide free and extensive educational content all year round on PCRonline. There you will find a newly developed dedicated resource “Facing Covid-19 with PCR” that provides practical education and advice to the interventional community in these difficult and challenging times.

A PCR e-Course initiative providing the very best online Education and Innovation in the field of cardiovascular medicine will be announced very soon, stay tuned for more information.
