EuroPCR 2018 hosts sessions on mechanical circulatory support

An Introduction to TEACH: Training and Education in Advanced Cardiovascular Hemodynamics

On Wednesday 23 May, two 90-minute tutorial sessions will address the fundamentals of cardiovascular physiology and hemodynamics relevant to the understanding of different forms of mechanical circulatory support.

The sessions will involve the use of a cardiovascular simulator to go through the didactic exercises that accompany each lecture. The simulator serves as a virtual laboratory for experimentation and participants will be encouraged to connect to it on their laptops. This promises a rich, unique and learn-by-doing experience which aims to help answer the questions:

  • What’s the fundamental pathology underlying my patient’s condition?
  • What’s the best test or parameters to make such an assessment?
  • Which therapy is best for my patient?
  • Do all therapies of a certain class, be it a drug or a device, provide equivalent physiological and clinical effects?
