  • Research activities of the Host Centre: Coronary physiology, imaging, complex PCI, structural interventions and heart failure. Thirteen active cathlab studies. More than 100 international publications in 2025. 
  • Experience in hosting fellows: Our center is internationally recognized as the birthplace of fractional flow reserve (FFR), pressure pullback gradient (PPG), CT-guided PCI, and numerous other breakthroughs in interventional cardiology. Innovation remains at the core of our mission, with a longstanding commitment to developing and validating novel diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies.
     
    Our observership and fellowship programs offer in-depth training in coronary physiology, complemented by extensive exposure to complex PCI, the CHIP (Complex Higher-Risk Indicated Patients) program, invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, structural heart interventions, and interventional heart failure therapies. Since its launch in 1996, our fellowship program has welcomed more than 100 fellows from Belgium and around the world through clinical, research, and combined fellowship tracks.
     
    Fellows receive comprehensive hands-on training in coronary and structural interventions while participating in high-quality clinical research. Education is an integral part of the program. Fellows contribute to cath lab research, clinical trial enrollment, live case demonstrations, international congress collaborations, and scientific meetings. Opportunities are available to publish in leading journals and pursue a PhD within our academic environment.
     
    Our alumni have established successful careers as leaders in interventional cardiology, bringing advanced clinical expertise and research experience back to their institutions across the globe.

  • Additional Information: Applicants must be eligible to obtain official recognition as a MD in Belgium, in accordance with Belgian legislation, to undertake a clinical fellowship rotation. This process may entail compliance with applicable language proficiency requirements.
