Snare technique in the event of wire loss: Trifold
Coronary guidewire loss complications
The snare technique is often used for the retrieval in cases of inadvertent loss of the guidewire, but involves several decisions and technical steps. Discover more about this technique here…
When retrieving a lost guidewire, the snare technique is feasible with a trifold snare only and it is easier when the fragment is located proximally in a large vessel. The triple-loop snare (EN Snare system, Merit Medical) is recommended.
Successful capture will depend on a correct alignment of the loop to the guidewire.
