The reported incidence of stent fracture ranges from 0.8% to 1.9%. Risk factors include calcified vessels, excessive tortuosity, long lesions, multiple overlapping stents, and a small minimal lumen diameter. Stent fracture is associated with restenosis, aneurysm formation, thrombosis, and target lesion revascularisation (TLR). Drug-eluting stents (DES) may be used in symptomatic lesions.
