A mindset shift in the cathlab: leveraging contemporary technologies for planning and guiding PCI in complex patients
Sponsored by Philips
Summary
This session examines evolving catheterisation lab workflows, highlighting how integrated imaging, physiology, and procedural strategies are reshaping PCI practices. Speakers emphasize the importance of advanced pre-procedural planning using modalities such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) to optimise stent deployment, and cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) to improve diagnosis and minimize contrast-induced nephropathy. Illustrated by real-life clinical cases, the session demonstrates how combining imaging and physiology with angiography improves workflow efficiency, enhances procedural quality, and reduces both radiation exposure and contrast volume. The session concludes with a call to adopt this integrated, technology-enabled PCI approach to better address the growing complexity of interventional cardiology cases.
Learning Objectives
- To discover features you might not yet know about cathlab's systems and learn how to integrate them to make your interventions easier and more effective
- To understand how intracoronary imaging, physiology and angiography contribute to a better and a more efficient planning and performance of complex PCI procedures
- To understand how the seamless use of in-cathlab systems can enhance procedural workflow, safety and quality
- To get a first clinical experience on a next gen image-processing technology in interventional cardiology
