Summary

This session provides an in-depth overview of Bioadapter technology and its potential to overcome the limitations of current drug-eluting stents (DES) in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Speakers present data from recent trials, including the Bioadapter RCT and the Infinity Sweetheart study, demonstrating a reduction in target lesion failure and other cardiovascular events, particularly in complex and high-risk coronary anatomies such as chronic total occlusions, long lesions, LAD lesions, and small vessels. The session also features real-world clinical experience, practical implantation strategies, and highlights the unique properties of Bioadapter stents—namely their capacity to adapt to vessel physiology and promote adaptive remodeling. Future directions for research into long-term outcomes and mechanisms of action are also discussed, positioning Bioadapters as a promising advance in interventional cardiology.

Learning Objectives

  • To learn the unique design characteristics of Bioadaptor and how that could improve PCI clinical outcomes
  • To learn about the existing level of clinical evidence and experience around the world and how clinical decisions are made
  • To better understand the patients and lesions that can be safely and effectively treated with Bioadaptor
