Summary

Image-guided PCI is entering a new era, driven by artificial intelligence and advanced CT technologies that are reshaping how coronary interventions are planned and performed.

This EuroPCR 2026 session explores the integration of photon-counting CT into PCI workflows, highlighting its improved spatial resolution, enhanced plaque characterisation and reduced radiation exposure. It also examines how CT-derived information can be brought directly into the cathlab to support more precise lesion planning and procedural guidance.

A key focus is the growing role of AI across the workflow, from fluoroscopic image denoising that improves image quality while reducing dose, to wire-free physiological assessment using angio-based FFR solutions that streamline decision-making during PCI.

Overall, the session illustrates how the combination of CT imaging, AI tools and integrated angiography systems is enabling more efficient, precise and data-driven coronary intervention.
