Vascular access: femoral and radial

Session comprising selected EuroPCR 2026 abstract submissions

Moderators: O. Chehab, A. Lavoie

Summary

This session explores vascular access techniques in interventional cardiology, emphasizing both femoral and radial approaches. It covers access-related bleeding and ischemic complications, safety and efficacy of distal radial programs, and innovations in sheath technology. Additional topics include post-procedural mobilization, management of radial artery recanalization, balloon fenestration for intramural hematoma, and strategies to reduce radiation exposure over a 13-year experience.

Presentations available when logged in:

  • Access-related bleeding and ischemic events via distal radial access in high-bleeding-risk patients
  • Results of the radial access insertion sheath evaluation via the electronic medical record study
  • Safety and efficacy of implementing a distal radial access program in a tertiary center
  • Direct mobilisation following successful Angio-Seal VIP deployment after coronary angiography or PCI
  • Major adverse limb and cardiac events after iatrogenic and atherosclerotic radial artery recanalisation
  • Cutting and scoring balloon fenestration for intramural haematoma: clinical outcomes from a cohort
  • Plummeting the radiation curve - A 13-year cath lab experience
