When a primary PCI goes wrong

Session comprising selected EuroPCR 2026 clinical cases submissions

Moderators: H. Khamis, A. Rahman

Summary

This session investigates complications encountered during primary percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI). It covers management of no-reflow phenomena, innovative guide extension catheter aspiration techniques for thrombus-rich STEMI, challenges when balloon crossing fails, vein graft PCI pitfalls, and complex concurrent ischemic events involving myocardial infarction and limb ischemia. It also addresses navigation strategies for left main chronic total occlusions without imaging guidance.

Presentations available when logged in:

  • STEMI complicated by no reflows
  • From door-to-flow: primary guide extension catheter aspiration for thrombus-rich STEMI
  • STEMI: when the balloon does not cross, but the show must go on
  • PCI of the vein graft - What can go wrong?
  • A race against time in two vascular beds: concurrent myocardial infarction and limb ischaemia due to embolic occlusion
  • Navigating a left main CTO without imaging: finding the way through the landslide
