Summary

Analyze in depth the case of a 64-year-old female patient with ischaemic cardiomyopathy with LVEF 40 % and severe ventricular mitral regurgitation, who previously had NSTE-ACS treated with LAD and circumflex PCI, and who presented with recent worsening heart failure and persistent NYHA class II-III, and find out more about mitral transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair: pre-procedural planning, imaging, transeptal puncture, and procedural steps.

Learning Objectives

  • To understand the principles of patient selection and pre-procedural planning for transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair procedures
  • To appreciate the importance of transoesophageal echocardiographic imaging in device selection
  • To work through the steps of a transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair procedure from A to Z in the company of highly experienced operators

Presentations available when logged in:

  • Case-based scenario (Part 1): clinical history
  • Case-based scenario (Part 2): transoesophageal echocardiography
  • Imaging for transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair procedures
  • Transeptal puncture
  • Procedural steps
  • Case-based scenario (Part 3): clinical and echocardiographic outcome
