Imaging to the rescue in LAA closure

Session comprising selected EuroPCR 2026 abstract submissions

Moderators: M. Asami, J. Kefer

Summary

This session highlights the pivotal role of advanced imaging modalities in left atrial appendage (LAA) closure. Topics include novel risk assessment workflows for air embolism, evaluation protocols using cardiac CT and 3D TEE, reproducibility of anatomical classifications, and long-term follow-up outcomes with various imaging techniques.

Presentations available when logged in:

  • A novel approach for assessing air embolism risk in left atrial appendage occlusion procedures using a clinical workflow FMEA
  • Impact of cardiac CT protocol on evaluation of LAA patency and device healing after LAA occlusion
  • Cardiac CT and three-dimensional TEE for morphological characterisation of the left atrial appendage
  • Reproducibility of the ELAAC anatomical classification on LAA closure pre-proceural CT
  • Long-term cardiac CT follow-up after left atrial appendage occlusion using the Watchman FLX
  • Long-term outcomes of ICE-guided LAA closure from a large single-center experience
