Building evidences to address current challenges in the treatment of aortic stenosis

Supported by Meril

Summary

At EuroPCR 2026, Andreas Baumbach, Philippe Garot and Rutger-Jan Nuis discuss three important trials that could help shape the future management of aortic stenosis.

The BASELINE trial compares self-expanding and balloon-expandable valves in patients undergoing valve-in-valve TAVI for a failing surgical bioprosthesis. The START YOUNG trial focuses on patients aged 65–75 years and aims to provide long-term data on treatment durability and lifetime management. Finally, the LANDMARK-2 trial explores the impact of earlier intervention by comparing TAVI with guideline-directed medical therapy.

Watch this interview for an overview of these studies and the key questions they aim to answer.
