Atrial septal aneurysm, shunt size, and recurrent stroke risk in patients with patent foramen ovale

14 May 2020

This work aimed at assessing the respective influence of interatrial shunt size and presence of ASA on the risk of recurrent stroke in medically treated patients after an index cryptogenic ischemic stroke in patients with PFO without evidence of alternative causes.

Multi- vs culprit-vessel percutaneous coronary intervention in cardiogenic shock

04 May 2020

This study compares outcomes of patients enrolled in the National Cardiogenic Shock Initiative (NCSI) registry treated using a strategy of MV-PCI vs CV-PCI and examines outcomes in patients treated with early MCS.

The utility of rapid atrial pacing immediately post-TAVR to predict the need for pacemaker implantation

04 May 2020

The investigators proposed rapid atrial pacing (RAP) to further risk-stratify patients for post-TAVR PPI. Atrial pacing can be easily performed during the TAVR procedure since a temporary pacemaker (TPM) is routinely positioned in the right ventricle during valve implantation.

Ten-year outcomes after DES versus CABG for LM coronary disease: extended follow-up of the PRECOMBAT trial

27 Apr 2020

This 10-year follow-up of the randomised PRECOMBAT trial adds to the already published long-term randomised comparisons of PCI vs. CABG for LM disease, including the data from SYNTAX (10 years), EXCEL (5 years) and NOBLE (5 years) trials.

Rivaroxaban in peripheral artery disease after revascularisation

22 Apr 2020

VOYAGER-PAD (presented at the ACC 2020 Scientific Sessions Virtual Event) evaluates whether rivaroxaban plus aspirin is better than aspirin alone in reducing MALE in symptomatic patients undergoing lower limb revascularisation.

Ticagrelor or prasugrel in patients with acute coronary syndromes - ISAR-REACT 5

06 Apr 2020

The objective of the Intracoronary Stenting and Antithrombotic Regimen: Rapid Early Action for Coronary Treatment (ISAR-REACT) 5 trial is to test the hypothesis that the ticagrelor strategy is superior to prasugrel strategy in patients with ACS in a composite clinical outcomes.
