TAVI, now an established, valid treatment for patients presenting with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis, has proven to be superior to medical treatment for inoperable patients whilst being a valid alternative to surgery in select, high-risk patients. This topic covers the newest devices and emerging data in TAVI as well as information on tools, devices and techniques such as vascular access; the role of adjunctive pharmacotherapy; imaging techniques such as echocardiography, understanding bleeding risks or patient selection. Editorial - The “Interventional cardiac surgeon”: the (new) member of the interventional Heart Team

18 Nov 2020

Surgeons have been for many years the only interventionalists. The only “doctors” to dare enter the body and mechanically intervene on structures to cure or improve quality of life. The link between surgeons and interventional cardiologists is very strong. Many surgeons contributed to the development of...

POPULAR TAVI - Aspirin with or without clopidogrel after TAVI

01 Sep 2020

Reported from ESC Congress 2020 - Mirvat Al Asnag interviews Anna Sonia Petronio (Pisa, Italy) on the results of POPULAR TAVI which showed that in patients not taking oral anticoagulation, aspirin alone compared with aspirin plus clopidogrel following TAVI significantly reduced bleeding rates and did not increase thromboembolic events.
