Mini-STAR as bail-out strategy for percutaneous coronary interventions and complications

Coronary Rotablator complications

The mini-STAR technique is a promising bailout strategy for the management of entrapped burr in the event of complications, achieving a high procedural success rate and low occurrence of procedural adverse events.

A 2nd guidewire is advanced in the subintimal space upstream from the entrapped burr zone and re enter downstream from it. A 2nd small balloon is advanced on this guidewire and is inflated facing the entrapped burr zone. This manoeuvre can unblock the entrapped burr.
