TAVI in bicuspid aortic valves: optimal technique and procedural refinement
Programme followed by #AskMeAnything questions time with the Anchorperson PCR Hub Chennai
Anchorperson:
D. Blackman
Moderator:
P. MacCarthy
Summary
Framed around a "live-in-a-box" case performed in Toulouse, the core of this session will be on procedural technique: how do you best perform a TAVI to get optimal outcomes in bicuspid anatomy? It will also focus on preprocedural planning, and in particular CT image analysis, and detail what the guidelines tell us about bicuspid disease and how we should treat it.
Learning Objectives
- To assimilate the existing evidence base and current guidelines for TAVI in bicuspid aortic valve anatomy
- To fully understand how to best assess patients with a bicuspid aortic valve prior to TAVI
- To learn more about factors that govern the choice between surgery, balloon-expandable and self-expandable transcatheter heart valves in patients with a bicuspid aortic valve
