Controversies and conversations in TAVI

Session comprising selected EuroPCR 2026 abstract submissions

Moderators: C. Frerker, J. A. Baz

Summary

This session addresses key controversies and discussions in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), including the role of invasive coronary angiography prior to TAVI, use of cangrelor during combined TAVI and high-risk PCI, and discrepancies in aortic valve stenosis assessment methods. Additional topics cover operator models, valve choice in younger patients, and forecasting valve-in-valve procedural volumes in Europe.

Presentations available when logged in:

  • Invasive coronary angiogram prior to TAVI with self-expandable valves: temporal trends and outcomes
  • Use of cangrelor in the context of concomitant TAVI and complex-high risk PCI
  • Determinants of discordance between echo, CT-derived and invasive assessment of aortic valve stenosis
  • In-house vs. visiting TAVI operators
  • TAVI with self-expanding vs. balloon-expandable valves in patients under 70 years
  • Forecasting transcatheter valve-in-valve procedural volume in Europe
