Bifurcation left main stenting with or without intracoronary imaging: Outcomes from the EBC MAIN trial

08 Aug 2023

This sub-analysis of EBC MAIN aimed to determine if intracoronary imaging use during LM bifurcation PCI was associated with fewer MACE, for patients treated with a planned dual‐stenting strategy versus provisional strategy.

Stepwise provisional versus systematic culotte for stenting of true coronary bifurcation lesions: five-year follow-up of the multicentre randomised EBC TWO Trial

16 Jun 2023

The investigator initiated, multicentre, randomised, EBC TWO trial compared a provisional strategy with a systematic culotte technique in patients with true non-LMS bifurcation disease. At one year, there was no difference between the groups in terms of the composite endpoint of all-cause mortality, MI or TVR....

The 17th expert consensus document of the European Bifurcation Club – techniques to preserve access to the side branch during stepwise provisional stenting

15 Jun 2023

Provisional stenting (PS) is the default approach for treating most coronary bifurcation lesions (CBL). The side branch (SB) can be compromised after main vessel (MV) stenting in up to 6-18 % of cases. The 17th Expert consensus document of the European Bifurcation Club details strategies for...

What is the role of imaging and physiology in complex bifurcation PCI?

Gabor Toth and Mariano Pellicano share some thoughts and perspectives on the role of coronary physiology and imaging in complex bifurcation PCI.

While physiology is an invaluable aid in understanding the functional relevance of a stenosis or circumflex bifurcation, imaging is a fantastic tool for understanding anatomy, for monitoring...

Can we use provisional stent strategy in complex bifurcation lesions?

18 May 2023 – From EuroPCR 2023

Watch this session to learn when a provisional stent strategy is appropriate for complex bifurcation lesions, discover optimization techniques for provisional stenting, and understand the scenarios that necessitate stenting the side branch.

What is the role of intra-coronary physiology and imaging to guide left main bifurcation PCI?

17 May 2023 – From EuroPCR 2023

As Alejandro Travieso explains, physiology and imaging are complementary to achieve good assessment of left main PCI. Dejan Milasinovic adds that different imaging tools can be used in different patients, so practitioners may choose between OCT and IVUS, depending on their main target of interest.
