Summary

This session aims to generate awareness about the distinct phenotypes of coronary artery disease (focal, diffuse, serial) that can be identified through contemporary physiological tools, and the implications of these phenotypes on achieving successful functional PCI results. Participants will also discuss the considerations around using PCI as the primary strategy for symptom management.

Learning Objectives

  • To generate awareness regarding distinct phenotypes of coronary artery disease (e.g., focal, diffuse, serial) that can be identified through contemporary physiological tools (wire- and image-based)
  • To gain insights into the implications of focal and diffuse coronary artery disease phenotypes on achieving successful functional PCI results
  • To discuss the implications of determining if PCI should serve as the primary strategy for symptom management

Presentations available when logged in:

  • Session objectives
  • Contemporary physiological indexes for the identification of focal, diffuse and serial CAD phenotypes: a walkthrough
  • Influence of focal and diffuse CAD phenotypes on the functional outcomes of PCI
  • Unsatisfactory functional outcomes post-PCI: Should we be concerned? How to react?
  • PCI as the primary strategy for symptom management – implications and considerations
