PCR Planet: interventional cardiology in the context of COVID-19 in Bahrain and Tunisia

Interventional Cardiologists Haitham Amin, Albudaiya, Bahrain, and Habib Gamra, Monastir, Tunisia, discuss the challenges of practicing cardiology in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic with William Wijns.

In Bahrain they are dealing with the epidemic relying on an infectious disease national task force. They do massive tests and they even transformed a carpark into an intensive care unit!

In Tunisia they stopped all elective procedures and they also experience a massive decrease of STEMI cases. They set up triage at the entrance of the clinic and are recommending lytic therapy for most patients.

Since they can benefit from the European experience, Habib Gamra is confident that on the African continent they will defeat the virus without too much damage.
