PCR Spotlight: simple guidance for the management of valvular heart disease patients in the context of COVID-19

In this video Didier Tchetche and Nicolas Dumonteil (both from Toulouse, France) discuss how to address the management of valvular heart disease patients during COVID-19.

Here are the take-home messages you should remember:

  • The heart team remains at the center of decision
  • Most structural procedures are going to be delayed
  • Close patient follow-up is essential
  • Only the more symptomatic patients are going to be treated
  • Maintaining an operational interventional structural team is key

Hello, thank you for your opinions, I agree with all your messages. My question is how you decide who is the symptomatic patient to treat? Only those comming to the hospital through the ER ? or do you call patients at home to know about their clinical state and ask them to come for "semi-elective" admission? Thank you and kind regards Flavio Ribichini
