Mirvat Alasnag took the opportunity of the CRT Congress held from 25 to 28 February in Washington, USA, to interview Andrea Scotti about the article released on the occasion in the EuroIntervention Journal about the feasibility of temporary MCS with an IABP during transfemoral TAVI

First, they discuss the criteria for the use of an IABP in the study and justify its use over other mechanical circulatory support devices. Secondly, Andrea describes the protocol that was adopted in this trial. Finally, they highlight the difficulties and limitations of valve handling and positioning due to the balloon pump, and analyse the results of this study in depth.
