LAA (Left Atrial Appendage) closure

Find all the latest content on left atrial appendage (LAA) published on this website.

Today, with an aging population, atrial fibrillation is more common and carries with it an increased risk of embolic cerebrovascular accidents. Anticoagulation strategies alone are not sufficient, and as a large proportion of the thrombus involved in these cerebrovascular accidents are seen to arise in the left atrial appendage (LAA), its closure, either surgically or by percutaneous methods, could reduce risk.
