SOLVE-TAVI: One-year outcomes of a factorial randomized trial of self-expandable vs balloon-expandable TAVR and general vs local anesthesia

Reported from the TCT Congress 2020

Reporting from TCT Connect 2020, Mirvat Alasnag interviews Hans-Josef Feistritzer who presented the results of the SOLVE-TAVI trial.

In this short interview, Mirvat Alasnag interviews Hans-Josef Feistritzer (Leipzig, Germany). After describing the unique study design, Prof. Feistritzer answers the following questions:

  • What were the pre-specified subgroups for the analysis?
  • What are the most important results of this trial?
  • How can we explain the low rates of stroke with the self-expanding valves?
  • What is the explanation for the high rates of permanent pacemakers in this trial?
  • Can the results of the study be extended to lower risk populations (regarding the STS score)?
  • How does this trial differ from other similar trials?
  • Is there any particular difference between female and male subgroups?
