Impact of alirocumab on plaque regression and haemodynamics of non-culprit arteries in patients with acute myocardial infarction: a prespecified substudy of the PACMAN-AMI trial

12 Jul 2023

This is a trial aiming to assess QFR and 3D-QCA DS% of all the non-infarct related arteries (IRA) with 3D-QCA DS% in all patients presenting with STEMI/NSTEMI and undergoing coronary angiography.

Percutaneous coronary intervention vs coronary artery bypass graft surgery for left main disease in patients with and without acute coronary syndromes: a pooled analysis of 4 randomized clinical trials

05 Jul 2023

This patient-level analysis of randomized trials comparing PCI vs CABG for the treatment of low-to-intermediate CAD involving the LM confirms the absence of long-term differences in mortality between revascularization techniques, regardless of the clinical presentation.

PCI or CABG for left main coronary artery disease: the SWEDEHEART registry

28 Jun 2023

While the choice between PCI and CABG for LMCA disease continues to be one of the most controversial topics, patient characteristics & comorbidities must be taken into account, as must the external validity of the results of RCTs in the real world, as the SWEDEHEART registry does.

Stepwise provisional versus systematic culotte for stenting of true coronary bifurcation lesions: five-year follow-up of the multicentre randomised EBC TWO Trial

16 Jun 2023

The investigator initiated, multicentre, randomised, EBC TWO trial compared a provisional strategy with a systematic culotte technique in patients with true non-LMS bifurcation disease. At one year, there was no difference between the groups in terms of the composite endpoint of all-cause mortality, MI or TVR....

The 17th expert consensus document of the European Bifurcation Club – techniques to preserve access to the side branch during stepwise provisional stenting

15 Jun 2023

Provisional stenting (PS) is the default approach for treating most coronary bifurcation lesions (CBL). The side branch (SB) can be compromised after main vessel (MV) stenting in up to 6-18 % of cases. The 17th Expert consensus document of the European Bifurcation Club details strategies for...

Infarct‐related artery as a donor of collaterals in ST‐segment–elevation myocardial infarction with concomitant chronic total occlusion: challenge of the double‐jeopardy thesis

30 May 2023

This study challenges the double-jeopardy assumption as the main cause of adverse outcome in STEMI with non-IRA CTO, as a collateral origin distal from the acute IRA occlusion was associated with a significantly better prognosis than with a proximal origin.
