Optimal minimal stent area and impact of stent underexpansion in left main up-front 2-stent strategy

10 Jul 2024

The present study aimed to revise the IVUS-derived segmental MSA criteria for optimal stent expansion in patients undergoing an up-front 2-stent strategy using the crush technique for LM bifurcation lesions to predict the 5-year clinical outcomes.

Percutaneous coronary intervention for bifurcation coronary lesions using optimised angiographic guidance: the 18th Consensus Document from the European Bifurcation Club

24 Jun 2024

In coronary bifurcation lesions (CBL) PCI, intracoronary imaging (ICI) is preferred for its superior outcomes over angiography alone, but its adoption is limited by education and technology access barriers, resulting in most CBL PCIs still using angiographic guidance only.

Durable-polymer versus biodegradable-polymer drug-eluting stents in acute coronary syndromes: three-year outcomes of the HOST REDUCE POLYTECH RCT Trial

20 Jun 2024

This trial found that, in ACS patients undergoing PCI, DP-DES and BP-DES had similar patient-oriented outcomes at three years, but BP-DES had higher device-oriented composite outcomes, mainly due to increased TLR risk.

Prognostic implications of residual tricuspid regurgitation grading after transcatheter tricuspid valve repair

18 Jun 2024

The take-home message for clinicians is that in the treatment of tricuspid regurgitation, the most frequent valvular disease alongside aortic stenosis, redefining procedural success as a function of the residual degree of TR is crucial.

Intravascular ultrasound vs angiography-guided drug-coated balloon angioplasty: the ULTIMATE III trial

13 Jun 2024

The results of this study show that IVUS guidance is associated with less late lumen loss compared to angiography guidance in HBR patients undergoing DCB angioplasty.

One- versus three-month dual antiplatelet therapy in high bleeding risk patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention for non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndromes

03 Jun 2024

The optimal duration of short DAPT in ACS patients is unknown, therefore this analysis of the XIENCE Short DAPT programme compared the clinical outcomes of one versus three months DAPT in HBR patients with and without ACS.

Prehospital crushed versus integral prasugrel loading dose in STEMI patients with a large myocardial area

03 Jun 2024

This pre-specified substudy of CompareCrush aimed to examine if patients with a large myocardial infarction benefit from prehospital crushed prasugrel.

Influence of pathophysiological patterns of coronary artery disease on immediate percutaneous coronary intervention outcomes

28 May 2024

This study demonstrated, for the first time, that PPG - an index to characterize focal vs. diffuse disease - can predict optimal functional revascularization outcomes (post-PCI FFR ≥ 0.88) more accurately than FFR alone.

Percutaneous coronary intervention versus coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with left main disease with and without diabetes: findings from a pooled analysis of 4 randomized clinical trials

30 Apr 2024

This analysis shows that diabetic patients undergoing revascularization face substantially higher 5-year rates of all-cause mortality, myocardial infarction, repeat revascularizations, and stroke compared to non-diabetic patients.

Prediction of mortality and heart failure hospitalization after transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions: Validation of TRISCORE

25 Apr 2024

This study highlights the TRISCORE's role in assessing risk for patients undergoing TTVI. Despite limitations, TRISCORE effectively identifies high-risk patients, aiding decision-making in a complex landscape of valvular heart disease management.
