Coronary revascularisation deferral based on quantitative flow ratio or fractional flow reserve: a post-hoc analysis of the FAVOR III Europe trial

08 Jan 2025

The post-hoc analysis found that quantitative flow ratio (QFR)-based deferral of coronary artery revascularisation resulted in a higher incidence of 1-year major adverse cardiac events (MACE) as compared with fractional flow reserve (FFR)-based deferral.

Percutaneous vs. Surgical revascularization of non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction with multivessel disease: The SWEDEHEART registry

02 Jan 2025

This registry-based observational study compares surgical and percutaneous revascularization in patients with multivessel disease who underwent treatment for non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), utilizing data extracted from the SWEDEHEART registry.

TAVI and FFR-guided PCI vs. SAVR and CABG in AS with complex or multivessel CAD: the TCW Trial

16 Dec 2024

The TCW trial found that FFR-guided PCI with TAVI offers favorable one-year outcomes, including lower rates of all-cause mortality, MI, disabling stroke, revascularisation, valve reintervention, and severe bleeding, compared to CABG with SAVR.

A randomised trial of sirolimus- versus paclitaxel-coated balloons for de novo coronary lesions

05 Dec 2024

The present study compares a novel sirolimus-coated balloon with a clinically proven paclitaxel-coated balloon for the treatment of de novo coronary lesions, demonstrating non-inferiority in terms of angiographic late lumen loss at 6 months.

Failed thrombus aspiration and reduced myocardial perfusion in patients with STEMI and large thrombus burden

03 Dec 2024

This registry-based observational study demonstrated that, in patients with STEMI and LTB, TA failure was associated with reduced myocardial perfusion and increased all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.

Ultrasound-guided versus fluoroscopy-guided large-bore femoral access in PCI of complex coronary lesions: the international, multicentre, randomised ULTRACOLOR Trial

02 Dec 2024

Compared to fluoroscopy guidance, routine use of ultrasound for large-bore transfemoral access in complex PCI did not significantly reduce clinically relevant bleeding or vascular complications. However, it notably improved first-pass puncture success, with a very low crossover rate.

Absolute coronary flow and microvascular resistance before and after transcatheter aortic valve implantation

12 Nov 2024

This study aims to evaluate changes in microcirculatory function post-TAVI, specifically assessing resting and hyperaemic absolute coronary flow and microvascular resistance before TAVI, immediately post, and at 6-month follow-up.

Comparison of strategies for vascular ACCESS closure after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: the ACCESS-TAVI randomized trial

04 Nov 2024

The present study explores the alternative of 1 suture-based + 1 plug closure device vs. the conventional one, finding a superiority of this approach in achieving the full closure, hemostasis with a reduced incidence of complications.

Optical coherence tomography predictors of clinical outcomes after stent implantation: the ILUMIEN IV trial

04 Nov 2024

The aim of this pre-specified analysis of the ILUMIEN IV trial was to assess the relationship between post-PCI OCT parameters of suboptimal stent implantation and clinical outcomes.

Percutaneous edge-to-edge repair for tricuspid regurgitation: 3-year outcomes from the TRILUMINATE study

30 Oct 2024

In this analysis, the 3-year outcomes of the TRILUMINATE study are presented, evaluating the long-term effectiveness of the TriClip T-TEER system on TR reduction, right ventricular remodeling, quality of life, and heart failure symptoms.
