Transcaval versus transaxillary TAVR in contemporary practice - a propensity-weighted analysis

09 May 2022

As there has been no systematic comparison of transcaval and transaxillary access so far, the present study aimed to compare these two approaches with each other, as well as with transfemoral access.

Effect of wire jailing at side branch in 1-stent strategy for coronary bifurcation lesions

06 May 2022

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of jailing a wire in the side branch of a bifurcation lesion to prevent side branch compromise during provisional main vessel stenting when a one-stent in bifurcation PCI technique is adopted.

Femoral or radial approach in treatment of coronary chronic total occlusion: A randomized clinical trial

27 Apr 2022

Access remains an increasingly discussed issue in the interventional community globally. In this FORT CTO trial, the authors reported no difference in procedural success in TRA vs TFA, among CTO patients.

Long-term clinical impact of contrast-associated acute kidney injury following PCI: an ADAPT-DES sub-study

21 Apr 2022

The recently published ADAPT-DES sub-study addressed the question of early and long-term impact of contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) on net adverse clinical events. In addition, the authors defined risk factors for the development of CA-AKI in all-comers using contemporary PCI techniques.

EROSION III: a multicenter RCT of OCT-guided reperfusion in STEMI with early infarct artery patency

19 Apr 2022

This is an interesting study showing that in patients with STEMI with early infarct artery patency, OCT guidance compared with angiographic guidance of reperfusion was associated with less stent implantation during primary PCI.

Short-term postoperative use of Rivaroxaban to prevent radial artery occlusion after transradial coronary procedure: the RESTORE randomized trial

14 Apr 2022

The RESTORE trial aimed to evaluate the clinical value of short-term postoperative anticoagulation with Rivaroxaban 10 mg daily for 7 days as compared with placebo, in reducing RAO at 24 hours and 30 days.

Randomized clinical trial on prevention of radial occlusion after transradial access using nitroglycerin: PATENS Trial

13 Apr 2022

The aim of the current study was to evaluate whether administration of nitroglycerin at the beginning or end of a trans-radial approach procedure would preserve radial artery patency.
